Frequently asked questions
Short answers about how bids, sizes and photos work on Bidwall.
How is the size of my photo calculated?
Size is your bid divided by the highest bid on the wall. The top bid is always the largest photo, and every other photo is drawn as a fraction of it.
What is the minimum bid?
You can bid from $1. The bid dialog shows the amount, a live preview of your size against the current top bid, and the price you will be charged.
What happens when someone outbids me?
Your photo is redrawn smaller, because its size is relative to the new highest bid. You can raise your bid from your management page to grow it again.
Can I lower or cancel my bid?
You can only raise a bid. You can delete your photo from your management page, but bids are final and non-refundable.
Do I need an account?
No. Bidwall has no accounts or profiles. When you place a bid you get a secret management link, and that link is the only way to manage your photo.
What if I lose my management link?
You lose control of that photo. There is no password reset and no recovery, so copy the link and store it somewhere safe as soon as you see it.
How do I pay?
Payment is handled by Stripe. When your local currency is supported, the checkout shows the amount in that currency before you pay.
Can I get a refund?
No. All bids are final. The Terms of Use state that no refunds are issued once a payment is processed and a photo is on the wall.
What can I upload?
Only content you own or have the rights to use, and nothing illegal, obscene, defamatory or otherwise objectionable. Content that breaks the Terms can be marked as sensitive or removed without a refund.
Can I add a link to my website or app?
Yes. When you place a bid you can add a title, a caption, a category and an https link, and you can edit them later from your management link. Links are marked nofollow ugc and can be hidden or removed by moderation.
Do I get traffic from my tile?
Bidwall shows you real counts of how many visitor sessions opened your tile and clicked your link, from your management page. It does not promise any number of views or clicks.
What is the king of the wall?
The tile with the highest bid. Everyone else is sized relative to it, and the leaderboard and activity feed show who took the top spot and when.
Is Bidwall a social network?
No. It is a public experiment: one wall, sized by bids, with no likes, followers or comments.
